How AIB Travel Insurance works

AIB Travel Insurance is designed to give you the cover you want to best suit your needs. Here's how it works.

  1. Choose if you want an annual multi trip or single trip policy.
  2. Choose who you wish to cover.
  3. Choose the cover option for your holiday destination.
  4. Choose if you want any optional cover extensions.

What you'll always get

There are some benefits we believe you will always need. AIB Travel Insurance offers you:

  • Unlimited medical expenses
  • A 24/7 emergency number with English speaking staff.
  • Up to £2 million to cover any personal liability.
  • Up to £5,000 if you have to cancel or cut short your holiday.
  • Up to £2,000 if your personal property is lost, damaged or stolen.
  • If you make a claim, you have to pay the first £50 per person per section of a claim where the excess is applicable. (£100 if the claim is under the Business optional cover extension).

Your holiday destination

You'll need to choose a policy that covers where you're going on holiday. Check below if your destination is included in our definition of Europe, if not you will need one of our Worldwide policies.

Europe

By Europe we mean Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Eire, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Madeira, Mediterranean Islands (including Majorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Malta, Gozo, Crete, Rhodes and other Greek Islands; Cyprus), Moldova, Monaco, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine. It also means the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and United Kingdom if travelling outside your home country, and within your home country in respect of annual multi trip policies only.

If all or part of your holiday is not in a country listed above, you must choose Worldwide cover.

Worldwide

If all or part of your holiday is in a country not listed in our definition of Europe above, then you will need to buy one of our Worldwide policies.

  • Worldwide, excluding USA, Canada, the Caribbean and Cuba - also includes Europe.
  • Worldwide, including USA, Canada and the Caribbean (excluding Cuba) - also includes Europe.

We can’t provide cover for any travel to Cuba. This means that AIB Travel Insurance will not pay any claims:

  • Arising out of or relating to any travel to, from or in Cuba or any travel which starts, ends or has a scheduled stop in Cuba;
  • Arising out of or relating to any Insured Person whose main residence is in Cuba; and/or
  • Which would result in AIB Travel Insurance being in breach of United Nations resolutions or trade or economic sanctions or other laws of the European Union, United Kingdom, or United States of America.

From time to time, there may be instances where we cannot provide cover to the country you wish to travel to. We will ask you to select the country you will be visiting, if your destination country is not listed, then please contact us on 0800 519 9942 for further advice.

Both European and Worldwide covers are available on single trip and annual multi trip policies; with or without the winter sports and other optional cover extensions.
