Standard excess – examples of how the excess is applied

The standard excess is £50. This applies for each person claiming against different sections of the policy, with the exception of the business optional cover extension where a £100 excess applies.

For example, if one person were to make a claim for damage to Personal Property and Medical Expenses, both caused by the same claim event; then the total excess applicable would be £100. This is because the claim is being made against two different sections of the policy. If two people covered under the one policy were to make the same claim, then the total excess applicable would be £200.

If however,  one person were to make a claim for theft of a bag and money, both caused by the same claim event; then the total excess applicable would be £50. This is because both parts of this claim are being made against the Personal Property section of the policy. If two people covered under the one policy were to make the same claim, then the total excess applicable would be £100.

Please see the Policy Document for full details.
